Harold E. VanderSchuur, age 95, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, February 15, 2021, while in Florida. Harold honorably served his country in the US Army during World War II. He was a lifetime member and last surviving charter member of Maplelawn Baptist Church, where as a young boy he met the love of his life, Deloris Seward, and also forged countless lifetime friendships. Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Deloris, after 73 years of marriage; a grandson, Jason Bolthouse; his brothers and their wives, Jack (Eva) VanderSchuur, Marvin (Patricia) VanderSchuur; his sisters-in-law and their husbands, Myrtle (Walter) Shamery, Eleanor (Fred) Harbinson, and Thelma (Bern) Groendyk. Harold will be lovingly remembered by his children, Debra and Dan Bolthouse, Scott and Sally VanderSchuur; his grandchildren, Joshua and Stacey Bolthouse, Sarah and Shawn Raymond, Amanda and Bryon Senzig, Denise Ferril; six great grandchildren; his sister, Lois (John) Spoelman; many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 4, from 4 - 8 PM at Stroo Funeral Home. Due to current restrictions, the funeral service will be held privately for the family, but will be livestreamed at 11 AM Friday, March 5, from Maplelawn Baptist Church, with Rev. Andrew Willis officiating (https://www.facebook.com/maplelawnbaptistchurch). Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Contributions in memory of Harold may be made to Maplelawn Baptist Church. |
