Marlene Joyce Helms (TeBos), age 65, of Byron Center, took her last breath to lyrics “I’m running into your arms” from Hillsong’s Forever Reign on June 17, 2021, after a long courageous fight with cancer. Marlene loved to sew, garden, fish, travel, quilt, side by siding, and spending time with her family. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 46 years, Dean; daughters, Nicole Helms, Kelly (Donald) Ram; grandson, John; granddaughter, Grace; special friends, Kyle and Tammy Hondorp and their son, Callen; father, Marvin TeBos; sisters and brother, Beverly (Brian) Wispelwey, Karla TeBos, Ken (Carol) TeBos; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Evart (Marcia) Helms, Marilyn (Jim) Proudfit, Evelyn (Jud) Afman, Diane (John) Lutke, Karla (Gordon) Oosting; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her baby grandson, THOR Ram; mother, Ruth (VanHouten) TeBos; in-laws, Evart and Sena (Ellens) Helms; and sister-in-law, Patricia (Zuiderveen) Helms. The family wishes to thank the staff of Lack's Cancer Center and Faith Hospice for the compassionate care they provided. Visitation will be held at First Christian Reformed Church of Byron Center, 8541 Byron Center Ave. SW on Monday, June 21, from 6 - 8 pm, Tuesday, June 22, from 1 - 3 and 6 - 8 pm and Wednesday, June 23, from 10 - 10:45 am with the funeral service following at 11 am. Dr. David Murray will officiate. Interment will be in Winchester Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Marlene may be made to Lack's Cancer Center or Faith Hospice.
