Melesia "Ana" Vredevoogd, aged 81,was called to her heavenly home on Sunday, July 11, 2021. Ana was a gentle kind woman who loved the Lord Immensely. Her sweet personality was infectious. She was loved and admired by everyone who interacted with her. She was an avid Tigers and Lions Fan, and loved all things South Christian. She loved her boys and was always there for them; be it in the bleachers watching a game or in a boat at her favorite spot, she never waivered. A true warrior for the Lord, she faced her toughest struggles in life with a fierce faith. She will be missed by many. Ana was preceded in death by her parents, Marcelina Prieto and Crito'bal Rodriguez; sister Melania (Pellan, Rodriguez) Gimenes; brothers, Jose (Irma) Rodriguez and Jesus Rodriguez. She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Scott (Betsy) Vredevoogd, Kris Vredevroogd; grandchildren, Ryan (Courtney) Vredevoogd, Tyler (Courtney) Vredevoogd, Rachelle Karol and fiancé Tim Lankford, Danielle Vredevoogd, Jake McQueen and fiancé Kara Hibdon, Tara (Troy) McQueen-Boroff, Morgan Vredevoogd; great grandchildren, Rylan, Collin, Coleton, Cameron, Kaedyn, Jaxson, Emery, Ariana, Christopher, Eva, Carson; special friends, Jan Oeverman, Mary Gritter, Mary Grant, Sharon DeVries, Elaine (Westfield) Ike; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Second Christian Reformed Church of Byron Center, 7588 Byron Center Ave., SW. Interment will be in Blain Cemetery. The family will greet visitors on Wednesday, July 14 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th Street, SE; and on Thursday, July 15, from 10:15 to 10:45 am at Second Byron Center CRC. Contributions in memory of Ana may be made to Christian Counseling Center or Second Byron Center CRC.

I was so lucky to have known Ana for a couple years at least, as I assisted through “Visiting Angels” in her home with things she needed done. I feel blessed to have known her.
