OGG-KATHLEEN MARIE 11/4/1947 - 7/18/2021 Kathy’s family trusts she’s found her next gardening project and card game with loved ones since passing away peacefully Sunday evening at age 73. Her generous heart, joyful laugh and playful teasing made life better for all. Born to Anthony and Josephine Kalisz in Grand Rapids, Mich., Kathy graduated from Mt. Mercy Academy. She later earned “Miss Nancy Taylor” secretarial school honors and an associate degree from Davenport University, where she also led cheer. After thriving in executive assistant positions, Kathy embraced a homemaker role and put all her creativity and passion into everything she touched. She was the life of every party she attended or hosted on Big Whitefish Lake in Pierson and later in her Kentwood home. Kathy treated her family to delicious holiday meals she’d perfected over decades. She enjoyed many exotic and often hilarious world travel adventures with her husband of 34 years, Jim Ogg. Her warmth, sincerity and free spiritedness frequently overcame language barriers she encountered along the way. Together, their volunteerism included reading with Cesar E. Chavez Elementary students and working booths at Pulaski Days. Kathy is preceded in death by her son, Brion Miller, and her daughter, Jacqueline Oggand; and her brother-in-law, George Ogg. She’ll be remembered lovingly by her husband, Jim; son Aaron (Lori) Ogg; grandchildren Owen Ogg, Danielle Ogg, Drew Otteson and Ethan Koning Ogg; great granddaughter Jenna Gross; siblings Nancy Kalisz, Elaine Dunkel, Tony (Michelle) Kalisz, Michael Kalisz and Pat (Noreen) Kalisz; nieces and nephews Jennifer (Nick) Diaferio, John Dunkel, Kristen (Adam) Stromberg, Kyle Kalisz, Kevin (Diana) Kalisz, Alex VanderScheer, Eric (Melissa) Ogg, Kirsten (Tory) Ogg and Natalie (Brad) Crossland; and great nephews Jack Diaferio, Blake Stromberg, Dylan Stromberg, Drew Diaferio and Clay Stromberg. Celebration of Life plans will be finalized in the coming weeks. |
