Anthony (Tony) Spadoni, went to be with his Lord early Monday morning, September 6, 2021, at the age of 91.  Born on February 8, 1930, in South Bend, Indiana to parents of Italian descent, he moved back to Italy in 1930, the same year he was born.  He returned to America in 1946 where he lived for the remainder of his life.  Tony served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  He married the love of his life, Kathlyn (Kitty) Emanouil, during a weekend pass on April 21, 1951.  They spent six months in Baltimore, Maryland and a year and a half in Staten Island, New York.  Soon after the war was over, Tony built a house in Wyoming, Michigan where he and Kitty raised their family and have continued to live in the home they both love so much.  He retired as a Clean Room Supervisor after working at Lear Siegler for nearly 50 years.  In the years following his retirement, Tony and his wife enjoyed camping at the KOA in Muskegon, a place they had vacationed every summer for over 20 years.  They enjoyed walking the trails around the two private lakes and exploring the surrounding areas.  During the later years of his life, Tony loved gardening, tending the vineyard at his home, and feeding the local wildlife.  To this day, deer, geese, and turkey still wander into the yard expecting to be fed.  Tony is survived by Kathlyn, his wife of 70 years; his two children, Sandra (Arthur) Swiatek, David (Candace) Spadoni; four grandchildren, Heather (Shane) Luker, Melinda Swiatek, Chris Swiatek, Dawn Hubbs; three great grandchildren, Cole, Caden, Braxton; sister, Maria Benham; brothers-in-law, Robert and James Emanouil; several nieces and nephews.  Tony was a wonderful and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather; an active man who loved life and made friends easily.  He was open and warm and those of us who knew him best feel privileged to have been a part of his life.  He is now at peace, and we will miss him dearly, but we have so many wonderful memories, and those will not fade with time.  He loved his family very much and that love will continue to live on in our hearts.  A private family graveside service has taken place at Rest Lawn Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers or plants, please donate to the Alzheimer's Association of Grand Rapids.
