Visitation: Thursday, October 7, from 6 - 8 pm at Stroo Funeral Home, and Friday, October 8, at Our Savior Lutheran Church from 9:30 - 11 am prior to the service at 11 am

Jared Austin Byers, age 47, of Grand Rapids, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 3, 2021. Jared worked for Michigan Lighting Systems (MLS) and was a journeyman electrician.  He served on the NX Evolution Council for the development of Hubbell Controls Solutions. He was a faithful member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and School serving as a trustee and spent many hours volunteering at the church and school. He was an avid camper and Boy Scout. Jared will be missed by many relatives and friends throughout the country. A beloved husband, and loving father, he will be deeply missed by his wife of 21 years, Julia (Nagy); sons, Patrick, Zoltan, and Laird; mother, Linda; brother, Clay (Wendy) Byers; and many nieces and nephews. His father, Glenn, and brother, Craig, preceded him in death. The family will greet visitors on Thursday, October 7 from 6 to 8 pm at Stroo Funeral Home (1095 68th St. SE). The funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, October 8, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 2900 Burton St. SE, Grand Rapids, with a visitation held prior to the service from 9:30 to 11 am. Pastor Jeremy Swem will officiate the service. Interment will be in Blain Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church and School.

I knew Jared through business. I found him to be a man of high integrity, a genuinely nice and friendly man, easy to be around. His passing is a true loss to the many who knew him. My deepest sympathy to his wife and children.
