Gordon L. Hirt, age 83, of Sparta, MI, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, December 1, 2021.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra; parents, Daniel and Dorothy Hirt; and brother, David Hirt.  Lovingly remembering Gordon are his children, Daniel (Monica) Hirt, Laura (Ken) Traxler, Thomas Hirt; 10 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brother, Roger (Shirley) Hirt; many nieces and nephews.  Gordon proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis.  He graduated from Middleville High School in 1957 and was a key member of the Middleville High School championship football team.  He loved most sports and was an avid bowler for many years.  Gordon was an auto mechanic and owner, operator of Hirt's Garage.  He loved playing card games and cherished family gatherings.  The visitation and service will be held at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th St. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49508.  Visitation will be on Monday, December 6, from 5 to 8 PM and Tuesday, December 7, prior to the service from 9 to 10:45 AM.  The funeral service will begin at 11 AM, Tuesday, December 7, with Pastor Ramsey officiating.  Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
