Dale R. Folkert, age 75, of Alto, MI, formerly of Cutlerville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 6, 2021, and went to be with his Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Della Folkert; sister, Vivian Dubbink; brother, Lynn Folkert; sister, Ardith Hook; and brother-in-law, Jerry Tyler. Dale is lovingly remembered by his wife of 53 years, Sharon; children, Melissa (Christopher) Borduin, Kathleen (Chad) Keech; grandchildren, Lance Cpl. Joshua (Tara) Borduin, Allison Borduin; brother, Mark (Mary) Folkert; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Russell Dubbink, Charlotte Folkert, Steve Hook, Buzz (Bev) Ditmer, Wanda Tyler, and many nieces and nephews. Dale was born December 30, 1945, in Holland, MI. After graduating Hamilton High School in 1964, he went on to obtain his BS degree from Ferris State College in 1968. The following Saturday, he married Sharon Ditmer. Dale honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. A hard worker, with a true servant heart, Dale was always willing to lend a helping hand and fill a need. Dale enjoyed being involved in his church and loved going on mission trips. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and being in the great outdoors. His grandkids were the light of his life, and he very much loved spending time with them. The visitation and memorial service will be held at Grand Rapids International Fellowship, 3765 Kalamazoo Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49508. Visitation will be on Friday, December 10 from 5 to 7 PM, and also prior to the service at the church on Saturday, December 11, from 2 to 3 PM. The memorial service will begin at 3 PM, with Pastor Craig Dillman officiating. Memorial contributions in honor of Dale may be made to Grand Rapids International Fellowship Missions Fund or the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. |
