Visitation: AT CARLISLE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH - Friday, December 17 from 1 - 2 pm followed by the service at 2 pm
Service: 2 PM Friday, December 17, at Carlisle UMC, 1084 76th St. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315

Roy Harrington, age 101, of Wyoming, was called to his heavenly home on Friday, December 10, 2021. Roy was born and lived most of his life in Detroit, graduating from Pershing High School where he met the love of his life, Anita Perman, and they were  married for 77 years. He honorably served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Retiring after 35 years as Battalion Chief of the Detroit Fire Department, he moved to Pinellas Park, FL, before moving to Wyoming, MI. He and Anita loved traveling, enjoyed growing flowers, and was an avid Detroit Tigers Fan. Roy loved spending time with his family and will be lovingly remembered by his children, Gary (Patty) Harrington, Diane (Mike) Sabbe, Debbie (Jim) Conner; son-in-law, Don Viles; daughter-in-law, Laura Harrington; nine grandchildren, Kristin (Craig) Coughlin, Jennifer Griffith, Robert Viles, Lisa Spencer, Julie (Kevin) Garcia, Allison (Brad) Ritter, Laura Conner, Michelle (Brian) Giorio; grandson-in-law, Edward Fetz; 17 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Anita; daughter, Nancy Viles; son, Scott Harrington; granddaughter, Pamela Fetz; and great grandson, Joshua Fetz. The family will greet visitors at Carlisle United Methodist Church, 1084 76th St. SW, Byron Center, MI, on Friday, December 17 from 1 - 2 pm followed by the memorial service at 2 pm. Pastor Gary Zinger will officiate. Interment will be held at a later date in Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to Kindred Hospice.
