David Alvin Barnaby aged 85, of Burbank, IL, formerly of Grand Rapids, passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2021. David was a dedicated family man, proud of his children and grandchildren. In his heart, he had two homes; his childhood home in Grand Rapids, MI and in the Chicago land area here he raised his family. David enjoyed bicycling, running, bowling, tennis, boxing, archery, shooting, and scuba diving. He loved all animals, camping with his family, and gardening and roto tilling. The farming in his blood gave him a love of the earth and the crops that it grew. David also loved his atomic clock and laser discs. He was a hardworking man, proud of his trade. David was a pressman at Merrill Printing in Hinsdale and Sun Printing in Naperville. When he semi-retired he worked in the butcher shop at Jewel Grocery in Bolingbrook. He retired on the land his father farmed in Byron Center, MI. He will be loving remembered by his wife, Visitation Carmella (Salva) Barnaby; children, Julie Anne (Walter) Berkowicz, David F. Barnaby, Lisa M. (Richard Klootwyk) Barnaby; grandchildren, Walter A. Berkowicz III, Paul M. Berkowicz, Marc A. Berkowicz; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lorraine and Mildred (Townsend) Barnaby; brothers, Eugene (Ellen) Barnaby, James (Bonnie) Barnaby; sisters, Birdice (Alex) Morel, Mary (Robert) Cook, and Betty (Gene) Allen. The family will greet visitors on Thursday, December 30, 2021 from 11 AM - 12:30 PM at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th Street, SE where a funeral service will begin at 12:30 PM. My heart is broken, I miss you SO MUCH!!
I long for one more chance to hug & kiss you & feel your touch!!
But I rejoice that you are with
YOUR LORD & SAVIOR Jesus Christ!
You are ETERNALLY free from
all pain, suffering, torment & strife!
No one can hurt you again, not even me,
For all pain, suffering & heartache I have ever caused you, I am OH SO SORRY!!
One day, When the Lord calls me HOME,
YOUR FACE again I shall see!
In the meantime, I will devote my life to Jesus,
to worship and prayer.
Thank you for the example you showed me & everyone,
of Your devotion to God the Father
& Jesus Christ His Son!
Your absence leaves an ache in my heart,
But when I join you in heaven, in Jesus' name,
Never again will we depart!

Love you so much,
Your daughter Lisa!

Dear David,
Lance and I are sincerely saddened to hear that you lost the Grandpa you were probably named after. Let us know if there is anything that we can do. Hugs and love to you and your family during this tragic journey.
