Henry Floyd VanHouten, Jr., age 70, was called home to be with his Lord on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2021. Floyd served as a firefighter / paramedic for the Kentwood Fire Department for 31 years prior to his retirement in 2011. After retiring, he enjoyed working as a gentleman farmer. Floyd lived for his faith in God and his love for his family. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 45 years, Ruth E. VanHouten; his children, Chris (Shirley) VanHouten, Leslie (George) Parrish, Andrew (Jenelle) VanHouten; his grandchildren, Jordan (Samantha) Parrish and daughter, Alyssa, Jessica Parrish, Jada VanHouten, Hannah VanHouten, Leah VanHouten, Caleb VanHouten, Brandon Chin, Taylor (Nolberto) Alcantar and sons, Trey and Ace, Emily Chin, Jordan Chin, Noah Chin; special family members, Shanda Romaine and her daughter, Faith; his sisters, Barbara (Larry) Thurkettle, Joyce (Terry) Quist, Joan VanHouten, Brenda (Keith) Trumpie; his sisters-in-law, Barbara (Bernie) Drent, Mary (Mike) Wileman, Betsy (David) McIntyre, Carol (Pete) Drent; many nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Cornerstone Church, 1675 84th Street SE, Caledonia, with Pastor Ken Nash officiating. Interment will be in Dutton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dutton Christian School or Mighty Oaks Warrior Foundation. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022, from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 PM at Stroo Funeral Home, and prior to the service on Saturday from 10 - 10:45 AM at the church.

Ruth and family we are so sorry .
Our prayers have been with you and the family. We will miss not seeing him at church. We know he Loved all of you, his family, church and Dutton Christian School. We always loved seeing you drive the bus.
