We rejoice in the home going of Gail Lorraine Roholt Kellum, Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister, Grandmother, Educator and servant of the Lord. She passed into glory on Wednesday, December 29, 2021.

She is survived by her husband, Alvin Kellum. Her children Owen Kellum, Tammy Kellum, Becky Alves (Alvin), Susan Kellum, Steven Kellum (Betsy Jo). And her grandchildren Caleb, Daniel, Ezra, Raine, Kate and Matt.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Grace Missions Philippines or Grace Christian University.

Gail’s faith was an essential part of her life. She was both a Pastor’s wife and missionary; spending 10 years in New Mexico on the Navajo Reservation, where all five of their children were born during their ministry there. She also spent a great deal of her time teaching and mentoring children in her church, shaping their spirituality by her tireless Christian example. She was also active in leading others to do the same, teaching adults to lead the ministry, preparing them to confidently lead in her absence as she moved on to lead the next set of teachers.

Gail spent 20 years at Grace Community Church as the Christian Education Director. She found great joy and satisfaction in working with the children and seeing them come to an understanding of Jesus in their lives.

She met her husband at Milwaukee Bible College in 1954, and they were married two years later. After Alvin graduated in 1957.  They moved to New Mexico later that same year to begin their missionary work. After a decade of dedicating their life to that work, they moved their family of five children across the country to Muskegon, Michigan, where Alvin pastored a church for two years. Ready to leave the ministry, they once again packed up their family and this time moved the short distance to Grand Rapids, Michigan where Alvin attended Davenport College and Gail stayed at home to raise their family and use her creative talents to keep her family in beautiful homemade clothes.

Gail was a creative person; forever picking up new art and craft supplies. Her favorite creative pastime was painting in the Norwegian style of Rosemaling (“rose painting” or “decorative painting”.)

The family invites you to join them in celebrating her life and home going on Monday, January 3, 2022 at Frontline Bible Church at 8283 Pfeiffer Farms Dr SW, Byron Center, MI 49315 at 11:00 AM with Pastor John Lowder officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 2,  from 4 - 6 pm at the church, and Monday one hour prior to the funeral service from 10 - 11 am.
