Mazi Anthony Chiduogu (IKAN POWER) Kanu passed on to the Lord after a brief illness on the 30th of December, 2021.

Mazi Anthony Chiduogu (IKAN POWER) Kanu was born into the family of Late Mazi Ignatius Emeluwa Kanu and Mrs. Florence Akumbu Kanu on 10th of August 1960 at Aba, Abia State.

He is the oldest of 8 kids (7 boys and a girl). He graduated from Bishop Shanahan Secondary School, Orlu, Imo State, Nigeria in 1979 and migrated to the United States in pursuit of higher education. He attended Western Michigan University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice in 1986. Thereafter, he took up a job with the Kalamazoo Michigan Safety Police and later with the Department of Corrections in Muskegon, Michigan; he retired as a Corrections Officer with many Honors. Also, in 1990 he was awarded Officer of The Year.

Mazi Anthony Chiduogu (IKAN POWER) Kanu has a very charming and intoxicating personality and a natural love for his fellow humans; that is why he chose a career in Criminal Justice. He had a passion for rehabilitating the disenfranchised, and for assisting the less privileged. He left a lasting impact in everyone he crossed paths with and will surely be missed.

Mazi Anthony Chiduogu (IKAN POWER) Kanu was married to Margaret Kanu and blessed with 5 children (Martha, Anthony, Chiduo, Ikechukwu & Abner) and 3 grandchildren (Breven, Xavier & Nnenna -aka Selense)

He would always be fondly remembered by his loving mother, his siblings, his nephews, nieces, relations, the Grand Rapids Nigeria Community and all his friends and well-wishers.

Adieu Mazi Nwachinemere, Echeta Obi esike!!! Keep resting in the bosom of the Lord, till we meet to part no more.

Blessings to the family of Anthony Kanu. We both graduated from WMU in 1986 and worked for the Dept of Corrections in Muskegon. Kanu had a smile that was infectious. He was charming and just a really nice man. I hadn't seen him in years. Heartfelt condolences to his wife, children and grandchildren. I am sorry for your loss and pray God gives you strength and comfort. Kanu is now resting. Blessings to all.
