Take my hand, precious Lord, lead me home. On Wednesday, February 16, 2022, Barbara Anne Doezema went home to her Lord. Barb was born on November 29, 1950 to Martin and Ida Bolt, the sixth of nine children. Barb met the love of her life, Andy Doezema, at the age of five when his family moved in across the street. She told her mom she was going to marry that boy, and 14 years later she did. In the following 52 years they had two children and two grandchildren. Their life together demonstrated faith, patience, and most of all love for their family. Throughout her life, Barb had a gift for making friends and ran into people she knew everywhere she went. She loved to bake for all the people in her life and was known for her blueberry muffins at the cancer center where she spent a lot of time at the end of her life. She enjoyed traveling, watching sports (go Tigers!), working on mission trips in the U.S., volunteering at the Rec Center, gardening, and especially spending time with her granddaughters. Barb leaves behind a legacy of family and faith, and we know that someday we’ll see her in heaven–perfect and whole once again. She will be lovingly remembered by husband Andrew Doezema; son Michael (and Melanie) Doezema, and their daughters Madelyn and Paige; daughter Denise Doezema; siblings Dick (and Jacque) Bolt, Jerry (and Sandy) Bolt, Tom Bolt, Jack (and Lynn) Bolt, Carl (and Margie) Bolt, and Ruth (and Rick) Haan; sister-in-law Marijo (and Steve) Osterink; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. The family will greet family and friends as they celebrate Barb’s life at a visitation held from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Wednesday, February 23 at Friendship Church , 190 – 100th St. SE, Byron Center, Michigan. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, February 24 at Friendship Church, and will be streamed at friendshipcrc.org. To honor Barb’s life and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mission French Africa Ministries, 2221 Ridgewood Ave. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546. |
