Ann Romano, began her new life in heaven on Sunday, February 20, 2022, at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo, MI. Ann was born in Paterson, N.J. on November 10, 1939, to Nicholas & Marian DiMaio (Baratta). Ann graduated from Benedictine Academy High School in Paterson, N.J. She was an honor student in high school and editor of her school newspaper. After graduation from high school, she attended and graduated from Seton Hall University with honors and was named a member of “Who’s Who” in American Colleges and Universities. Her major was history, and her minor was English. After graduating from college she was hired as an English teacher at Central High School in Paterson, N.J. She taught catechism to students for several years at her local church. She loved reading and in particular mysteries written by Agatha Christie. She played the piano, had a beautiful voice, and was an accomplished knitter. She completed five years of Bible Study Fellowship. This is an intentional Christian system of structured bible study. She loved northern Michigan art, in particular, pictures of landscapes and barns. She had two charities which she was devoted to and to whom she donated. Right to Life and Covenant House were her special interests. She delivered meals on wheels well into her retirement years. On May 20, 1962, she married Vincent Romano and together they raised and educated five children. She was a devoted wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Marian Di Maio. Ann is survived by her children, Lisa Romano Neal (husband, Joe), Vincent N Romano (wife, Stacey), Mary Ann Romano Hackett (husband, Bruce), Robert Romano (wife, Heather), Monica Romano Turner; grandchildren, Jessica (husband, Bill), Jada (husband, Patrick), Ryan (wife, Sarah), Justin, Hannah, Nicholas (friend, Hope), Bryant, Andrew, Rhodes, Tyler, Irais, Olivia, Althea, Halsey; great grandchildren, Weston, Andi, Hudson, Henry. The family will greet visitors at 10 AM on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, 1150 W. Centre Ave, Portage, MI, 49024, and will celebrate the life of Ann Romano at 11 AM with a mass at this church. The mass will be live-streamed by visiting www.stcatherinesiena.org/funeralmasses. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN, in honor of Ann Romano. |
