Tena (Boonstra) Born, aged 88, passed away into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, April 30, 2022.  Tena enjoyed knitting and crocheting and donated many blankets, caps and mittens to charities over the years. She was a compassionate, gentle, loving and kind wife and mother and was a friend to many. Tena loved summers, word search puzzles, going out for breakfast and eating the first strawberry from the garden. Her daughters-in-law, Debra Born, Paula Born; brother, Gerben Boonstra; brother and sister-in-law, Poppe (Jetske) Boonstra, and two infant children preceded her in death.  She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Dewey; children, Steven Born, Alice (Henry) Damsteegt, Clarence Born, Howard Born (Cathy Sytsma), Robert (Tammy) Born; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters and brothers, Tjet (Tjalle) Stork, Wokke Bruinsma, Klaske (Jeen) Schaap, Sytske (Klaas) Siegersma; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Saakje Boonstra, Amy Van Dokkumburg, Harold (Lucille) Born, Louise Lindemulder, Steven (Shirley) Born, Elisabeth (Roger) Bultman; and many nieces and nephews. The family will greet visitors on Tuesday, May 3, from 6 to 8 pm at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th Street, SE, Grand Rapids, MI, and on Wednesday, May 4, from 10 to 11 am at  Second Christian Reformed Church of Byron Center, 7588 Byron Center Ave., SW, Byron Center, MI, 49315 with the funeral service following at 11:00 am, Rev. Paul Hoekstra officiating. Interment will be in Winchester Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Tena may be made to Faith Hospice.
