Elmer Bos, age 86, of Byron Center, passed away unexpectedly on May 9, 2022, and went to be with his Lord. Elmer was born and raised in the Netherlands and immigrated to the USA in 1957. He returned to the Netherlands in 1958, married Lena, and returned to Grand Rapids, where they raised their family. Elmer loved the Lord and loved singing His praises as a member of a quartet. Together, Elmer and Lena owned and operated Lena's Hallmark. For over 50 years, Elmer was passionate about his work as a clock repairman. He enjoyed bowling, his motorcycle, and was an avid Tigers fan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lena; siblings, Hendrika (Albert) Hubach, Allie (Albert) Ten Klooster, Afe Bos; brothers-in-law, John Hubach and Milton Loveless; step-grandson, Michael Brown. Elmer will be deeply missed by his children, Evert "Ed" (Annette) Bos, Joel (Peri) Bos, Belinda "Lynn" (Brian) Nelson; his loving companion, Ida;grandchildren, Justin (Stephanie) Bos, Andrea (Josh) Gabrielse, Alexander (Makenna) Bos, Danae Bos, Kendra Bos, Emily Serba, Chelsea Brown, Jacob (Katherine) Nelson, Joseph Nelson, Breanna Nelson; great-grandchildren, Kyler Bos; Levi, Lena, Cora, and Isla Gabrielse; Ensley Bos; William and Benjamin Nelson; Jason, Arianna, Scarlet, and Skyy Brown; siblings, Elizabeth Hubach, Mary Antuma, Johanna Loveless, Henny (Larry) Stauffer, Ralph (Jackie) Bos; sister-in-law, Rayna Bos; many nieces and nephews. The family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday, May 12 from 5 - 8 pm at Stroo Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, May 13, at New Life Baptist Fellowship Church, 6252 Burlingame Ave. SW, Byron Center, with visitation prior to the service from 10 - 10:45 am. Pastor Joe Gerkin will be officiating. The service will be live-streamed on the Facebook page of New Life Baptist Fellowship. Interment in Winchester Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the Susan B. Komen Foundation.
