Marvin Gerald Hoekstra, age 77, of Wyoming, went to his heavenly home on Monday, June 20, 2022. Known as either Marv or Jerry by his family and friends, he attended Calvin College, Calvin Seminary,  and Princeton Seminary, and went on to be a co-owner of Hoekstra Meat Co, from which he retired. He loved to talk with people about anything intellectual, especially religion. Marv enjoyed traveling the world with his favorite traveling partner, Kathy. An adventurous man, he earned his private pilot’s license and loved flying. His love for children and grandchildren was very evident.  He also enjoyed cooking and was very good at it. Preceding him in death are his parents, Marv and Fran Hoekstra; his brother, John Hoekstra; and sister-in-law, Nancy Mellema. Marv will be deeply missed by his wife of 55 years, Kathy; his children, Rebecca and Scott Tiemeyer, Dan and Erinn Hoekstra; grandchildren, Kadin, and Camden Tiemeyer; Keegan, Zoe, and Liesel Hoekstra; sisters and brothers, Joyce and Larry Hanford, Jim and Lori Hoekstra, Helyn and Tommy Tompkins, Tim and Camille Hoekstra; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Joel and Mary Mellema, Greg Mellema, Heidi and Mark Pengra; and many extended family members and friends. A private family committal will be held at Blain Cemetery. A memorial service will begin at 12 noon on Friday, June 24, at First Presbyterian Church, 8047 Church St., Richland, MI 49083, with Rev. Dr. Mark Jennings officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to World Renew.
