Alfred Schumacher, age 97, of Kentwood, MI, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, August 2, 2022.  Alfred proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII.  In 1980, he retired from General Motors 36th plant after more than 30 years of service.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther.  Lovingly remembering Alfred are his children, Steven Schumacher, Mark Schumacher, James (Denise) Schumacher; grandchildren, Jack (Stacey) Schumacher, Heather (Doug) Slager, Nicole Schumacher, Danielle (Josiah) Spencer, Stephanie (Ric) Hein; six great-grandchildren; sister, Elsie Millar; many nieces and nephews.   The visitation and service will be held on Monday, August 8, at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68^th St. SE, Grand Rapids, 49508.  Visitation will be from 11 AM to 12 Noon.  The funeral service will begin at 12 Noon with Pastor Mike Baynai officiating.  Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.  Memorial contributions in honor of Alfred may be made to a Vet’s Home of your choice or Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church.
