James "Jim" E. Hoeksema, age 87, of Cutlerville, MI, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, August 3, 2022.  Jim proudly served in the U.S. Army Corps. Of Engineers from 1954 to 1956.  He enjoyed playing his saxophone in the Military Band, and at many churches throughout his life.  Jim worked for 29 years at Sullivan's Tile Mart, one year at Klingman’s, and also at the family hardware store, "Hoeksema Hardware", in Dorr, MI.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Reinder and Tena (Hop) Hoeksema; sisters, Carole Hoeksema, Marlene Nyenhuis; brother, Ron Hoeksema.  Jim will be dearly missed and remembered by his very loving wife of 62 years, Trudy; children, David J. Hoeksema, Daniel P. (Suzanne) Hoeksema, Debra S. (Ron) Kerkstra; grandchildren, Emily Joy Hoeksema, Jacob Daniel Hoeksema; brothers, Dennis Hoeksema, John (Mary) Hoeksema; sister-in-law, Minie Hoeksema; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Don Nyenhuis, Janie Quist, Wilma Quist.  The family will greet relatives and friends on Tuesday, August 9, from 10 to 11 AM, prior to the service, at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th St. SE, Grand Rapids, 49508.  The funeral service will begin at 11 AM, on Tuesday, August 9.  Interment will be in Kent Memorial Gardens.  Memorial contributions in honor of Jim may be made to Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.
