Randall Lee Eddy

Was born on December 21st, 1949, to Donald and Margorie Eddy in Lansing, Michigan. Dad was a wrestler, weightlifter, eagle scout, swimmer and had a passion for trombone which he played in many bands at Sexton High School. He grew up with one older sister, Sharon Kay Eddy and many friends. City boy met farm girl when Randy and Elaine were in the Middle School band together. Their relationship was sweet, and they fell in love, marrying in 1971 in Lansing, Michigan. His dream, in 7th grade, was to go to General Motors Institute where he received a BS in engineering. He later received his MBA from Michigan State University. Dad and Mom transitioned to Grand Rapids, Michigan where Dad was a Quality Engineer at Delphi. Their love and family grew over the years, adding Jason Randall, Denise Marie, Troy Robert, and Michelle Renae. Mom and Dad created a safe place that made their house a home to many. They raised us with the love of our LORD, compassion, and encouragement. Dad taught us by example how to work and play hard. He loved taking his family camping at Silver Lake and 24-hour road trips to Florida to visit our great-grandparents. Dad always showed us unconditional love and support, wise counsel and continually covered us in prayer.

Dad was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in 2002, receiving a double lung transplant in 2005 at the University of Wisconsin Madison. Because of Dad’s devotion to God, he would say, “whether I live or I die… I win.” His attitude and unwavering faith through pain and suffering is what we will remember the most. Dad taught us to trust without fail and prayed Psalm 91 over his family daily. God’s miraculous power was evident throughout Dad’s health journey, especially the final nine months of his life. Dad proclaimed how the Lord healed him over and over, even right until the very end.  Dad went to be with Jesus September 2nd, 2022.

Dad is survived by his precious wife: Elaine; four children: Jason (Stephanie) Eddy, Denise (Jamie) Lane, Troy (Yuting) Eddy, & Michelle Eddy; ten grandchildren whom he loved dearly: (Grace, June and Ruth Eddy), (Katelyn, Aubrie, Haven, Meeghan & Josiah Lane), and (Izabelle & Samuel Eddy); his sweet sister Sharon (Eddy) Patchin; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Dad made the most important decision of his life in 1968, when he received Jesus as his Lord & Savior, and we know his greatest desire is for you to choose the same. He left an incredible legacy that we will continue to honor by proclaiming God’s Faithfulness. We continue to pray that more people will know Jesus because of Dad!

Please join us in celebrating Dad’s life:

Saturday, September 10th at ResLife Church in Grandville, MI (The Res Center: 5100 Ivanrest Ave SW, Grandville, Mi, 49418 – Door E or H).

Visitation will begin at 9:00am, with service at 10:30am.
