On Monday, October 3, 2022, Philip Richard Weaver, age 63, of Kentwood, finished his race and entered his eternal heavenly home. Phil enjoyed his life's work right up to the end as a partner in the family business, J.H. Weaver and Sons. He was an active member of Gaines Church, where he served as an elder, led Sunday School, the Wednesday morning Men's Bible Study, and enjoyed being active with the youth. Phil loved the outdoors, including taking walks, hammock camping in the woods, and he especially loved sailing with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, James H. and Clara Weaver; and his parents-in-law, Don and Ellie Whitney. Phil will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his wife of 41 years, Ruth; children and grandchildren, Jessica and Jeff Waite (Sawyer, Lily, Mercy, Oliver), Rose and Chris Seymour (Isaiah, Ella), Jay and Yamileth Weaver (Diego), Melody Weaver (Ryan, Kolton Waters), Bonnie and Matt Scheltema (with “Peewee” on the way); siblings, Jim (Ruth-deceased) Weaver, Jr., Mary (Ron) Boes, Bob (Gail) Weaver, Steve (Nancy) Weaver; brothers-in-law, Larry Whitney, Dave (Donna) Whitney, Ken Whitney, Mark Whitney; and many nieces and nephews. The family will greet visitors on Friday, October 7, from 5 - 8 pm at Stroo Funeral Home and also on Saturday, October 8, from 9 - 9:45 am prior to the service which will begin at 10 am at Dutton United Reformed Church, 6950 Hanna Lake SE, with his Pastor, Tom Datema, officiating. The service will be livestreamed at duttonurc.org. Interment will be in Pine Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Hospice. |
