James "Jim" S. Hewitt, age 56, of Jenison, MI, entered into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, October 11, 2022.  Jim grew up in the Kentwood area, where he graduated from East Kentwood High School. He spent his summers at the cottage on Green Lake where he enjoyed water-skiing, swimming, and many other outdoor activities. Jim loved NASCAR, boating, snowmobiling, fishing and gardening. He was at his happiest when he was outdoors and with his family and friends. He loved helping others and made lifelong friends wherever he went. Jim worked for many years at General Motors, retiring as a Team Leader.  He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Hewitt.  Jim will be dearly missed and remembered by his children, Kendall (Jesse) Smoes, Joshua Hewitt; fiancé, Leah DeLano and her daughter, Casey DeLano; mother, Donna Hewitt; brother and sister, Richard Hewitt, and Debra Hewitt; many special nieces and nephews; numerous close friends and neighbors.  The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, November 12, from 1 - 3 PM at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th St. SE, Grand Rapids, 49508.  Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project or the American Cancer Society.
