Jane Montross Rowe, age 68, peacefully passed away on Friday, October 21, 2022. Jane was born on February 11, 1954, to Henry Clair Rowe and Dorothy Elizabeth Rowe in Newago, Michigan and graduated from Newago High School. She went on to attend Ferris College before meeting John Vander Stel Jr. and they were married on May 31, 1979. John’s time in the military resulted in them traveling, and during his service they lived in multiple places including Texas, Germany, New Jersey and Hawaii, before settling back here in West Michigan. Jane gave birth to their precious daughter, Amanda Jane, while they lived in Texas on May 10, 1983.  Jane enjoyed music, playing her guitar, doing needlework, puzzles, playing games, watching her favorite movies and television shows and visiting with friends and family on the telephone.  Preceding her in death are John Vander Stel Jr.; their daughter, Amanda Vander Stel; her parents, Henry and Dorothy Rowe; sister, Sandra Thomas​;​ and many aunts and uncles. She will be lovingly remembered by her brother, Joseph H. Rowe II (Susan),​; ​​her three sisters-in-law​;​ and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.​  A celebration of Jane’s life will take place with a memorial gathering at Pine Hill Cemetery.​  The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to those who took such good care of Jane at Masonic Pathways in Alma, Michigan, during her last years.
