Philip D. Tietz, age 80, of Dutton, went home to be with God on Saturday, October 29, 2022. Phil proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, serving two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was an amazing, hard-working, dedicated man of faith who would do anything for anyone and loved his family with a huge and abiding love. Phil was preceded in death by his parents, Wilford and Janet Tietz; aunt, Marion Dowling; and cousin, Gene Dowling. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years, Karen; children, Kim (Tom) Edwards, Mike Tietz, Kelly (Scott) Van Eerden; grandchildren, Jessica (Riley) Smith, Katherine Edwards (Paulo Quiros), Jaquez Edwards, Julia Tietz, Anna Beach, Megan Van Eerden, Cody Van Eerden; great-grandchildren, Jordyn Smith, Christopher Smith; and sister-in-law, Nancy Stanley. As Phil requested, cremation has taken place. The family will greet visitors at Woodview Christian Church, 3785 Woodview Ave. SW, Wyoming, on Tuesday, November 1, from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 pm and Wednesday from 10 - 11 am prior to the celebration of life service beginning at 11 am. Pastor Chris Pannell will officiate. Interment of cremains will be in Fort Custer National Cemetery at a later date. Contributions in memory of Phil may be made to the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. |
