June Marjorie Peterson, age 62, of Byron Center, MI, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, November 8, 2022. June was a devout Christian, a wonderful wife and mother of two, and liked to travel. Craig thinks of her as spirited, adventurous, kind and caring to others. Alyssa speaks in terms of her loving nature, compassion and selfless behavior. Brian describes her in terms of patience, strength of character, and caring. She will be missed by all. June was raised on her father’s dairy farm outside Watertown, MN. She attended Watertown High School graduating in 1978, then went on to get her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education (1982) from Concordia St. Paul. June taught in Rhode Island for one year before returning to Minnesota to get her BA in Mathematics Education from Concordia. She was a smart woman, eventually going on to get her Masters of Arts Special Education from Western Michigan University graduating in 2008. She taught high school math in the Grand Rapids Public Schools for 14 years before retiring in June 2021. June met Craig Peterson in November 1983 and they married in August 1986. The two moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas for five years where she was employed by Happy Hollow Elementary School. They were married for 36 years. Daughter Alyssa was born in 1991 and son Brian in 1994. June is preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Marjorie Felt. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Craig; daughter, Alyssa Peterson; son, Brian Peterson; sisters, Janet (Scott) Emon, Julie (Hary) Kreslin, Joanne (Garrett) Gardner; brother, James Felt; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Patricia Derrick, Susan (Bill) Adamson, Dennis (Lynn) Peterson, Paul (Roxanne) Peterson, Douglas (Jodi) Peterson, David Peterson; and many nieces and nephews. Michigan services will be held Friday, November 18, at: Ascension Lutheran Church, 4252 Breton Road SE, Kentwood, MI. Visitation 12:00 noon; service 1:00 pm, with Reverend Mike Wernick officiating. Minnesota services will be held Tuesday, November 29, at: St. Peters Lutheran Church, 3030 Navajo Avenue, Watertown, MN. Visitation 10:00 am; Service 11:00 am, with Reverend William H. Kirmsse, officiating. |
