Marlin Ensing, of Byron Center, born April 18, 1932, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at the age of 90. Marlin graduated from Hudsonville High School. He served two years in the U.S. Army in Korea. Graduating from Hope College, he then attended Michigan State University and University of Michigan, ultimately obtaining a Master’s Degree. He taught science, math, and was a librarian at Berlin High School, Kentwood Public Schools, and Benton Harbor High School. He was active at church, serving as elder for seven years at Faith Reformed Church in Wyoming, and was a member at Rush Creek Bible Church in Byron Center. Marlin and Shirley enjoyed taking many trips. He also enjoyed listening to and viewing sports, hunting pheasants in his younger days, and trapping muskrats. He will be deeply missed by his son, Mark; brothers Kenneth (Anne) Ensing of Kentwood, Calvin (Sherri) Ensing of Bonita Springs, FL; sister, Delores Toerning of Tucson, AZ; four brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; parents, Paul and Ada Ensing; and sister, Norma (Willis) Kuipers. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 3, at Stroo Funeral Home, with Pastor Steve Sherman officiating. There will be a time of visitation prior to the service from 10 – 11 am. Burial will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek. Memorial contributions may be made to Rush Creek Bible Church Missions. |
