Peter James Visser, age 87, of Byron Center, was called to his heavenly home on Tuesday, November 22, 2022. Pete proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1953 - 1955. He was an avid Tiger's fan, and enjoyed bowling, golfing and playing cards. He was preceded in death by his brother and sisters, George Visser, Ida Mae Johnson, Lillian Williams, Marian Sawicki, Jeanette Goeman, Rose Marie Gort, Audrey Veenstra, and Trudy McNulty. Pete will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 64 years, Jean; his children, Gloria (Dan) Jongsma, Deb (Bern) Austhof, Karen (Russ) DeGram, James "Jim" (Loretta) Visser; 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; sister, Shirley Grit; sisters-in-law, Eileen Visser, Gladys (Alan) Vanniman, Ann Berkenpas Tjepkema; and many nieces and nephews. The family will greet visitors on Sunday, November 27, from 4 - 7 pm at Stroo Funeral Home, and Monday, November 28, from 10 - 10:45 am at Cutlerville East Christian Reformed Church, 501 68th St. SE, where the funeral service will begin at 11 am. Rev. Ed Visser and Rev. Dan Jongsma will officiate. Interment will be in Winchester Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Potter's House or Juvenile Diabetes Association.
