Henry G. "Hank" Lanning, age 82, of Cutlerville, MI, has moved on to his next adventure to meet up with his Heavenly Family on Saturday, December 3, 2022. Hank was the founder of Lanning Electric, where he worked for many years. He used his electrical skills on numerous mission building projects, nationally and internationally. His greatest love was his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He enjoyed his Bible study with the Freedom Fighters Men's group of Kentwood Community Church. He also enjoyed singing hymns and was passionate about sharing his faith wherever he went! He served as assistant chaplain at Kent Community Spectrum Fuller Campus for 25 years. Hank was an outdoor enthusiast and enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, traveling, biking, hiking, and boating. Hank cherished his family and foster parenting. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years, Twila (VanDyken); sons, Mark (Linda) Lanning, Kevin (Deb) Lanning, Dan (Kim) Lanning, Philip (Sonia) Lanning of Houston, TX, and Michael Lanning; Grandchildren, Eric and Kristeen Vander Wall, Calin and Stephanie Swaney, Brian and Michelle Jones, Brad and Lisa Ellens, Kurt and Shari Reitsma, Cody and Kami Konyndyk, David Lanning, Nate and Julianne Gibbons, Peter and Jenny Lanning, David and Hannah Leestma, Andrew and Madalyn Lanning, Dan and Bethany Cramer, Moriah, Sarah, Lydia, Noah Joy, and Tirzah Lanning, Benjamin and Samuel Lanning; and 25 great grandchildren. A great gift of friendship to Henry and Twila were their extended foster families, Philip and KimOanh Nguyen and their 3 children, Hugo and Cristina Sanchez and their 2 children, and Julio and Vanessa Sanchez and their 2 children; sister, Luan Dola; sisters-in-law, Thelma Walcott, Rita (Jack) VanderMolen of Manhattan, MT, Shirley (Bill) Vanderby of Edgerton, MN, many nieces and nephews. The family will greet relatives and friends on December 8 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at Kentwood Community Church. The celebration of life service will be held on December 9, 2022 11:00 am.(additional visitation one hour before service) at Kentwood Community Church, 1200 60th St. SE, Kentwood, MI 49508. Pastor Mike Veach will officiate. Interment will be in Blain Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to KCC Freedom Fighters, 1200 60th St. SE, Kentwood, MI. |
