Curtis "Curt" Bergakker, of Byron Township, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, January 8, 2023. 

He was born on September 19, 1956 in Grand Rapids, MI, and graduated from Caledonia High School in 1974. 

Curt worked at Knoll for 30+ years, where he met the love of his life, Kathy, in 1978.

After his retirement from Knoll, he continued to keep busy by working at Costco for the last 11 years. 

Curt was very involved in his community for many years in Middleville, where he was the President of the Athletic Boosters for many years at TKHS. He was awarded the Thornapple Area Enrichment Foundation Unsung Hero award in 2003 for his contributions to the community. He spent his spare time watching his daughters at all of their sporting events. More recently he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also loved watching Nascar and U of M sports.

He was married to the love of his life, Kathy, for 43 years. They spent their lives in Middleville, MI, for many years, and more recently lived in Largo, FL, for 6 years.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy "Post" Bergakker; his 3 beautiful daughters, Stacey Goodson, Brenda Bergakker, and Julie Bergakker, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Puddin; sister, Kathie (Dan) Popma, Debra (Ken) Kelley, Patricia (Mark) Currier, and brother, Darwin Bergakker; sister-in-law, Linda (Jack) Tiemeyer; brothers-in-law, Jim (Sherry) Post, Dave (Jan) Post, and his special friend, Michael Wilburn; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Karyl (Comp) Bergakker and Pete and Winnie (VanEerden) Post. 

Visitation will be on Friday, January 13 2023, from 10am to 12 noon at Community Christian Reformed Church at 150 Burt AVE SW in Grand Rapids, 49548. A Memorial Service will begin at 12:30 pm with fellowship to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org, in memory of Curtis Bergakker.
