Gwendolyn Lee "Penny" Mercer, age 89, died on January 12, 2023. She was born in Delaware, Ohio on June 10, 1933, and moved to Kentwood, Michigan in 1965. She devoted the latter part of her life as an animal activist. She had no children, but loved and cared for her beloved pets. Penny was preceded in death by her husband, Harold "Dick" Mercer in 2006. She is survived by her brother, Jim Fleshman of Anaheim, California, as well as her nieces and nephews, and many good friends. As Penny requested, following cremation, her remains will be buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in Delaware, Ohio.
