Gary E. Tromp, age 87, of Kentwood, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, January 28, 2023. Gary served in the US Army. He enjoyed volunteering with youth activities, baseball, softball, and leading the Boys Club at his church. After nearly 30 years of service, Gary retired from Steelcase before taking on many different part-time jobs during his retirement. He was an avid fisherman and liked to travel. His wife Muriel; brother and sister-in-law, Cornie (Esther) Tromp; brothers-in-law, Harry Vermeer, Harris VanKooten; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Celia (Marv) Zylstra; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Donald (Clarine) VanKooten; preceded him in death. Gary will be lovingly remembered by his children, Greg (Sue) Tromp, Mark (Amy) Tromp, Steve (Gayle) Tromp, Julie (Dale) Jeltema; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Bernice Vermeer; sister-in-law, Grace VanKooten; cousin, Denny Dieleman; and many nieces and nephews. The family will greet visitors on Sunday, February 5, from 4 to 7 pm at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th Street, SE. The Funeral Service will be held 11:00 am Monday, February 6, at First Cutlerville Christian Reformed Church, 1425 68th Street, SW; with Rev. Ken VanWyk and Rev. Josh VanDrunen officiating. Interment will be in Winchester Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Gary may be made to South Christian High School Sports Boosters.
