Nancy Jane Moody was born in Jackson, Michigan to Adrian and Vivian Channell on April Fool's Day,1942. She could play the fool and make you the fool all at the same time. Nancy was a woman of many talents; she could play the trumpet, pitch a mean softball, ride her horses, enjoy her farm, nurse the injured and ill, and serve her church and community all at the same time. Nancy's example was of major influence on her children. Nancy's devotion to her family and loved ones was deep and powerful. Memories of Christmas ornaments, special birthday gifts, beautifully written cards personalized with her artwork, and words of wisdom are held dear by those she gifted. Nancy's years of struggle with mental illness led her to devote many hours to healing herself and others. Her heart to serve led her to the Red Cross, where she spent many years influencing the mental health of others, both locally and around the country, during times of disaster. Some of her most impactful service was after the Oklahoma City bombing, New York and the Pentagon on 9/11. This left a profound impact on her life and work. Sadly, Nancy Jane Moody, age 80, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her previous husband, John Moody, Sr. Nancy is survived by her wife, Susan Manes; children, Michael Moody, Kevin (Heather) Moody, Christopher Moody, Mark (Sue) Moody, Kathleen (Cheryl Barnes) Moody-Breece, Kyle Moody, John (Amy) Moody Jr., 20 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. The family will greet visitors on Friday, February 3, from 3:30-4:30 pm at Stroo Funeral Home (1095 68th St. SE), followed by a memorial service beginning at 4:30 pm. Memorial contributions may be given to an organization of your choice. She will be missed, but her legacy will live on through the work of future Moody generations. |

I'm sorry. I remember the 1st time I met Nancy at one of the Thanksgiving celebrations. My mother was also there, and you and Nancy were on your way for a motorhome trip. My mother really wanted to join you. What an impactful life she led! She surely will be missed by so many! Love, Jill Lapham
We are very sorry for your loss. She fought a great fight.
I would have wanted to stay also with all the chocolates and soda. It was great to hear about some of your memories with your mother and grandma. We will always be here for you and our doors are always open and the table is free.
From all of your Brothers at the Belding Fire Dept.
We will be making a donation to the Ionia County Victims Advocates on your mothers behalf.
