David D. VanderWall, age 83, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, February 6, 2023. He served with the Grand Rapids Fire Department for 28 years, and retired as a captain in 1998. David will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, Marty; children and grandchildren, Todd and Lynne VanderWall (Alison and Dominic DeMarco, Grant and Hannah VanderWall, Jordan and Sydney VanderWall), Craig and Dorothy VanderWall (Ty and Lyndsey VanderWall, Jacob and Chelsey VanderWall, Paige VanderWall), Jeffrey and Jeannine VanderWall (Lauren VanderWall, Andrew VanderWall); eight great-grandchildren with two more on the way; brother, Dirk and Jone VanderWall; sisters-in-law, Virginia VanderWall, Carol Linneman; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 15, from 5 - 8 pm at Stroo Funeral Home; and Thursday, February 16, from 10 - 10:45 am at Princeton Christian Reformed Church, 5330 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, followed by a memorial service at 11 am. Our sympathy to you. Dave was such a great guy, with a wonderful personality, who could always bring a smile to our faces. We always thought the Vander Wall boys and their folks were pretty special. May God somehow bless you and give you His peace and strength during this difficult time.
