David Lee VanPutten, age 81, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 14, 2023. Dave was a lifelong member of Kelloggsville Christian Reformed Church, where he was active in the Cadet program and the Sportspersons Club. He loved fishing, hunting, and camping, and especially enjoyed those activities with his family and the youth from his church. Dave honorably served his country in the US Navy and went on to be a dedicated Steelcase employee for over 30 years before retiring. He was preceded in death by his dear wife of 61 years, Gloria, on December 14, 2022. He was also preceded by his parents, Harry and Hazel VanPutten, his sister, Donna Robertson, and his brother, Thomas VanPutten. Dave will be lovingly remembered and missed by his children, David, Jr. and Carol VanPutten, Linda and Terry Miedema, Karen Tully, Scott and Sharon VanPutten; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; his sister, Betty and Jack Blackport; his sisters-in-law, Loretta Powers, Janice Bilohlavek; his brothers-in-law, Loren Harper, Randall McKenney; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family. Visitation will be held 2 - 5 PM on Sunday, March 19, at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th St. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49508. A private family committal service will take place at Blain Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at Kelloggsville Christian Reformed Church, 610 52nd St. SE, Kentwood, MI 49548, on Monday, March 20, at 11 AM, with visitation prior to the service from 10 - 10:45 AM. Pastor Martin Benckhuysen will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
