LaDonna L. Thompson, age 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 6, 2023. LaDonna was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on August 15, 1938, to Robert and Ruth Breen. She placed her faith and trust in Jesus Christ during her college years. She served as an RN at Butterworth Hospital for many years, as well as Director of Nursing at Michigan Christian Home and other nursing opportunities. She used her nursing abilities on various missions trips. She was an active member of Good News Baptist Church, teaching children’s classes, doing missions projects, and making quilts for shut-ins. LaDonna was pre-deceased by her parents, Robert and Ruth, her brother Robert Breen, and her sister, Bernice Artlip. LaDonna will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 64 years, Robert; her four sons and their wives, Robert and Deborah, Mark and Marcia, Michael and Marilyn, Timothy and Kristi; 16 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren; her sisters June Payne, Joan McCoy, and Debra Hoye; and many nieces and nephews. The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, April 14, 2023, from 6-8 pm at Stroo Funeral Home, and one hour before the service on Saturday. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 10:30 am at Good News Baptist Church, 6830 Eastern Ave. SE, Grand Rapids, MI, with her son, Rev. Bob Thompson, Jr, and her pastor, Rev. Brian Cederquist, officiating. Interment will be in Dutton Cemetery. The family wishes to thank Paul, Rita, and the staff of Faith Hospice and the caretakers at American House who gave her amazing care. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Hospice.
