Norman Keith Wustman, age 89, of Byron Center, MI, passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, after a short battle with leukemia.  He was a lifelong resident of Byron Center, MI, where he was a produce farmer until his retirement in 1998.  Norman employed many middle school and high school kids who worked for him in “the muck” throughout the years.  He was a member of Second Byron Christian Reformed Church for 68 years.  Norman served on the Byron Center Christian School Board and on the Byron Township Board for 26 years as a trustee.  He also served on the planning commission and fire commission for several years.  He played many years of fast pitch softball as a pitcher and coached for many teams.  Norman was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Donna Wustman; son-in-law, Rick Pitsch; grandson, Markus Van Goor; parents, Nick and Emma Wustman; brother, Robert Wustman; sisters, Francis Berkenpas, and Lorraine Boverhof.  Lovingly remembering Norman is his faithful dog, Bella Rae; his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  Patricia Pitsch, Mike and Jodi Pitsch (Caden, Madilyn, Aubrey), Ben and Jill Pitsch (Zachary, Ethan, Alexander), Holly and John Russo (Michael, Chase, Dayton, Liberty), Tracy and Steven Sorensen, Pam and Dan VandenBerg, Nikki and Jeremy Huttenga (Evelyn, Josie), Joel and Elaine Wustman, Rachel and Jamie Fasbender (Ava, Elena, Emmett, Joseph), Brett and Kate Wustman (Greysen, Case, Tenley), Tyler and Morgan Wustman (Thomas, Peter), Scott and Julie Wustman, Trish Wustman and Aaron Lovell (Riley, Carter, Mason), Austin, Evan, and Kaylinn Remer, Gayle and Bruce Van Goor, Heather and Josh Prince (Seth, Koleson, Vaylin), Alison Van Goor and Robert Stanciel (Tobias), Bethanie Van Goor and Austin Veeneman; brother-in-law, Al Boverhof.  The family will greet relatives and friends on Sunday, April 30, from 4 to 7 PM at Stroo Funeral Home, and prior to the service at the church on Monday, May 1, from 10 to 10:45 AM.  The funeral service will be held at Second Byron Center Christian Reformed Church, 7588 Byron Center Ave, SW, Byron Center, 49315, on Monday, May 1, at 11 AM with Pastor Rick Vanderwal, officiating.  Interment will be in Winchester Cemetery.  Memorial contributions in honor of Norman may be made to a Christian school of your choice.
