Gary John Tiesenga, age 63, of Boca Raton, FL, formerly of Grand Rapids, MI, passed away as a result of complications from diabetes. He was preceded in death by his brother, James Tiesenga; and his father-in-law, Richard Brueneman. Lovingly remembering Gary is his wife of 13 years, Patty; stepsons, Brandon (Christina Warycha) Morrison and their children, Ariana, Sophia, and Joey; Christopher (Tierney) Morrison and their children, Piper and Oliver; parents, Andrew and Elaine Tiesenga; brothers and sister, David (Jane) Tiesenga, Deb (Roger) Offringa, Steve (Tanya) Tiesenga, Mark (Dee) Tiesenga; sister-in-law, Deb Tiesenga; mother-in-law, Judy Brueneman; many nieces and nephews.   Gary graduated from Ferris State University in 1982 with a degree in Finance & Data Processing. He had an accomplished career as an information technology executive with Marathon Oil, Deloitte, Computer Sciences Company, and the TJX Company. His career brought him to many locations like Findlay Ohio, Dearborn MI, Nashville, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Columbus Ohio, and Boston. While in Chicago, Gary met Patty in 2006 through a mutual friend. They married in 2009 and Gary became an amazing husband, stepfather, and grandfather. He never missed a chance to cheer on Manchester United, NASCAR, the Cubs, the Predators, and anything University of Michigan. After retiring to Boca Raton, Florida, Gary most of all enjoyed playing golf, winning several club tournaments, and providing leadership in technology strategy for Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club. He and Patty traveled extensively, enjoyed many live sporting events, and especially enjoyed road trips from Florida to Cincinnati, Michigan, New York, and Boston to see the kids, and family and friends.  The family will greet relatives and friends on Sunday, May 21, from 5 to 8 PM at Stroo Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be held at Plymouth Heights Christian Reformed Church, 1800 Plymouth Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49506, on Monday, May 22, at 10 AM with Rev. Steve DeVries officiating. Interment will be in Blain Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association, https://diabetes.org/.
