Virginia Mae Chumley, age 74, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 30, 2023. Virginia was born on September 2, 1948, in Alton, Illinois, to Paul and Helen Greer. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Arthur Chumley, and two sisters, Eleanor Pohlman and Catherine Miller. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Dorothy and Lee Burnett, Tommy Earl Reynolds, Christine and Shawn Hampton, Rebecca Reynolds and Jim Essenburg; her grandchildren, Danielle Burnett, Crystal Ridley, Lee Burnett, Jr., Aiesha Lockett, Ashley Crosby, Jasmine Reynolds, Janice Reynolds, Briana Reynolds, Chantelle Hampton, Shawn Hampton, Jr., and Alashia Hampton; 21 great grandchildren; her siblings, Sharon Kottkamp, Paula Mitchell, Paul Williams Greer (Dixie), Judy Dobbins, Ray Charles Greer, and Regina Smith (Scott). As Virginia requested, cremation has taken place and the family will honor her memory privately.
