Patricia L. Schmidt, age 69, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, June 14, 2023. Pat retired from nursing at Butterworth Hospital after 30 plus years of service. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, church activities, playing the flute and piano, cross stitching, cooking, and gardening. Pat was a caring and loving person with a wonderful sense of humor. Her love of her pets and all animals was never hidden. She truly loved her daughters, who she adopted and raised as a single parent.  She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Lydia and Anya Schmidt; sister, Judi (Ralph) Tapp; brothers, Donald (Sheryl) Van Eck, Bill (Jennifer) Van Eck; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Timothy; parents, Donald and Harmina VanEck; and sister, Janice Grondman. The family will welcome visitors on Monday, June 26, 2023, from 1 to 2 pm at Plymouth Heights Christian Reformed Church, 1800 Plymouth Ave., SE; Grand Rapids, MI 49506, where a memorial service will begin at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Sarah Albers, officiating. Contributions in memorial of Pat may be made to Plymouth Heights C.R.C.
