Cemetery: Garfield Park

Bette J. Reynolds, aged 96, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Monday August 21, 2023. She was a Battle Creek native and a schoolteacher for many grade levels within the same classroom at Battle Creek Christian school. Bette also was a homemaker for most of her life, as she strived to raise her four children in a Christian home. For several years Bette played the organ at Woodland Christian Reformed Church, where she and her husband were charter members. Later they both attended Plymouth Heights Christian Reformed Church for several years.  Bette was a supportive wife to her husband, “Bus” as he taught psychology at Calvin College. Bette was an avid sports fan for Calvin College and attended many sports games, especially basketball, enjoying the Calvin-Hope rivalry. Bette had a generous spirit and brought food to many sick neighbors and often gave gifts to her grandchildren. Bette is survived by her 3 daughters, Nancy Oppenhuizen, Becky (Steve) Deer, Amy (Mark) Hansen; friend, Susan Heerema; 13 grandchildren, Tamara Aurich, Jennifer Bouma, Julie Slean, Mark Piersma, Spencer Deer, Shelby Clay, Steven Reynolds, Jason Reynolds, Marianna Reynolds, Christine Bell, Charles J. Reynolds Jr.; granddaughter, Lauren Hansen. A gathering of family will be present at her graveside service.
