On Monday, January 15, 2024, we are sad to announce the passing of Paul J. Stroo. He was born on April 29, 1947, and was known for kindness and generosity as a business owner of Cutlerville Shoe Repair for 26 years. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and honorably served 2 years in Viet Nam. Paul had a love for God, his family, music, drums, and water. He was preceded in death by his parents, Abe and Hermina Stroo; sister, Virginia Toering; sister-in-law, Marilyn Stroo; and brothers-in-law, Ted Toering and Dave Vanderwerf. Paul will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Mary Stroo; children, Kimberly (Jeff) Beyer, Todd (Michelle) Stroo; grandchildren, Bridget (Grant) Morren, Toby Beyer, Taylor (Jordan) Carter, Kelsie Hopfauf, Lexie Stroo; great grandchildren, Eloise Carter, Aria Carter, and Sadie Morren; sister, Ruth Vanderwerf; and brother, Bill Stroo. The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, January 19, from 1 - 3 pm at Stroo Funeral Home (1095 68th St. SE). Interment will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. We are so grateful to the entire staff at Michigan Veterans Homes at Grand Rapids for the kindness and care Paul received. It was extremely professional, personal and exceptionally caring.
