Joyce Lucille (Thompson) Maring, age 81, of Grand Rapids, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, January 14, 2024. Joyce was active in her church as an organist and pianist for many years. She enjoyed going for car rides, especially along the lake shore. Her greatest joy and accomplishment were her children and grandchildren, whom she loved deeply. She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Howard. Joyce will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Melinda (Chris) Miller, Sharon Border (Michael Gould), Julie Treakle, Charlene Maring; nine grandchildren, Samantha (Calvin) Karlson, Morgan Miller, Rachel Border, Jenna Border, Cassie Border, Emily Lafferty, Rebekah Maring, Andrew Howe, and Austin Howe. The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, January 20, from 1 - 2 pm at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th St. SE, where the funeral service will begin at 2 pm. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Contributions in memory of Joyce may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
