It is with great sorrow that Donald I. Dorman, age 90, of Hastings, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2024. Donald loved and believed in the divinity of God and that of the church. He was a true seeker for the heart of God and maintained his faith that one day humanity will become fully benevolent in its love for one another; Romans 8:28. Don was a member of Hastings Naz Church and enjoyed congregating with his fellow church members. He was born on December 29, 1933 in Grand Rapids to Charles and Doris Dorman. Don graduated from Sparta High School and went on to Michigan Tech for a short while before joining the U.S. Navy. He married his wife, Helen, on November 2, 1954 in Sanford, ME while he was stationed in Brunswick. Don and Helen moved to Grand Rapids after he was discharged from the Navy and he worked for Lear for many years. He loved to garden and enjoyed the fruits of his labor. Don was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, and brothers, Richard and Lawrence. Surviving are his sons, Charles Dorman, Randall Dorman, Donald Dorman II; his grandchildren, Christopher, Rachael, Kathryn, Donald III, Madison; many great grandchildren; sister, Carolyn; and many nieces and nephews. Don will be buried with his wife in Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI, on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at 11:30 am. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
