Carol Faye Helmholdt (Alberda), aged 83, formerly of Dorr, was called to her heavenly home on Friday, February 23, 2024. Carol loved spending time with her family and being a Grammie. She had a heart of gold and enjoyed playing card games. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; son, Dennis; and great granddaughters, Sahana and Jocelyn. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Denise (Mike) Feltenbarger, Deborah Force and friend, Ken Essenburg, Douglas (Laurie) Helmholdt, Doreen Chrysler, Duane (Laurie) Helmholdt; daughter-in-law, Kris Helmholdt; 20 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; brother, Don Alberda; sister, Judy VanArsdal; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Marilyn Alberda, Curt Stavn, Helen Helmholdt; and many nieces and nephews. The family will greet visitors on Tuesday, Feb. 27, from 5 to 8 pm at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th Street, SE, Grand Rapids; and on Wednesday, Feb. 28, from 10 to 11 am at Trinity URC. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Trinity United Reformed Church, 7350 Kalamazoo Ave., SE, Caledonia, MI 49316, with Rev. Jacob London, officiating. Interment will be in Dorr Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Carol may be made to Project Hope of NE Allegan Annetta Jansen Ministry Center or to Hospice of West Michigan.
