Virginia “Gini” K. (Moerland) Cronover, age 74, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 26, 2024. Gini was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on October 30, 1949. She grew up in Dutton, Michigan and was a 1967 graduate of Caledonia High School. As a young woman, Gini grew up listening to Elvis Presley, and she loved spending time with family, including her nieces and nephews, frequently taking them to Detroit Tiger baseball games, shopping - especially after the holidays (she never missed a good sale), watching game shows, playing card games, and going camping. She began working at General Motors shortly after graduating high school and retired from there after 30 years. She met the love of her life, James “Jim” Cronover at work and was married on February 16, 1991. Together they continued the legacy of spending quality time with family by hosting lunches and dinners, taking their nieces/nephews and grandchildren to amusement parks such as Michigan Adventure, Craig’s Cruisers, and Cedar Point. They were also dedicated to the UAW local, organizing various fundraisers, faithfully attending meetings for many years, making many beloved friends in the process. Gini had a great sense of humor, loved to laugh, had a lot of spunk, and was dearly loved by her family and friends.

Gini was preceded in death by her loving husband, James “Jim” Cronover, her parents, Isaac and Blanche (Emery) Moerland, brother, Jerry Moerland, brothers-in-law, Marvin Veldheer and Harold Dykstra. Gini is survived by her sisters, Marge Veldheer and Betty Dykstra, sister-in-law, AnnMarie Moerland, stepchildren, Terry McKown and James Cronover, and many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 6, from 10:30 am – 12:00 pm at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th St. SE, with the memorial service being held at 12:00 pm. Live-streaming of the service will be available at www.stroofuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Hospice in honor of the loving care they provided to Gini and her family.
