Hope Ann Veltman, age 81, entered into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, September 7, 2024. Hope was born to Walter and Eleanor VanderHoek on April 16, 1943, in Grand Rapids, MI She attended Kelloggsville and Cutlerville Christian Schools and South Christian High School. She received her LPN training at Grand Rapids Junior College School of Practical Nursing .Hope was a caregiver by nature and spent the last part of her career working as an LPN/manager at Sentinel Pointe. She had a special place in her heart for snuggling babies, waterfalls, and the Thornapple River where she lived. Exploring her family tree was something Hope loved to do. She was an accomplished knitter and loved scrapbooking and hand stitching cards to give away. Hope was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Richard; and her brothers, Pete, Ray, and Chuck VanderHoek. Hope will be lovingly remembered by her children, Vicki & Bruce Vermeer, Rick & Dawn Veltman, Kurt & Faye Veltman, Kari & Mike Van Ryn; grandchildren (great grandchildren), Scott & Jennifer Vermeer (Myla, Sienna), Krista & Jacob Sterling (Jude), Ellie & Travis Dragstra (Raphael, Natalia), Ben & Emily Veltman (Jemma, Liam, Oliver), Erin Veltman & Tyler Carpenter, Mary Veltman, Mark & Adrienne Veltman, Josh Veltman, Kaden Veltman, Amelia Veltman, Margaret "Maggie" Veltman, Annika & Isaac Houskamp (baby due in December), Nate Van Ryn, Hayden Van Ryn; sister Nancy & Richard Vander Weide; and many nieces and nephews. The family will greet visitors on Tuesday, September 10, from 4-7 PM  and Wednesday, September 11, 2024 from 1:00-1:45 PM at Caledonia Christian Reformed Church, 9957 Cherry Valley Ave. SE, Caledonia MI 49316. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at Caledonia Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Merlin Buwalda and Rev. Scott Greenway officiating. Interment will be at Alaska Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Hope can be made to Right to Life of Michigan.
