Jeffrey Searle, loving, loved husband of Ruth Voetberg, passed peacefully to Glory on Wednesday, September 18, 2024. Born October 30, 1937, in the Eastend of London, England, childhood memories of WWII remained vivid throughout his life. After serving in Her Majesty's Armed Forces, he worked hard at various trucking and automotive jobs to provide for his family of four sons. In 1980, he moved to Saudi Arabia to continue working as Service Manager for transportation companies. There he met Ruth who taught in international schools. They married in 1983 and spent 20 years total working in SA. They took up scuba diving and traveled to many diving locations around the world. Jeffrey retired in 2005 and relocated to Peru with Ruth who taught three more years. They settled in Grand Rapids but spent winters in their travel trailer exploring the States. After Jeffrey was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, they spent winters in Sierra Vista, AZ. Jeffrey is survived by his devoted wife, Ruthie V.; four sons, Trevor in Sweden, John and Danny in England, and Jason in Chicago; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by family members, Dorothy Ondersma, Jim and Claire Voetberg, Wendell Voetberg, Clair and Maxine Voetberg, Bob Voetberg; very special niece, Lenore Voetberg-Roede and many more nephews and nieces. He was blessed to have caregiving assistance from "Ladies in Waiting", Bev and Carol. Jeffrey's memorial service at Clark Chapel, 1546 Sherman St. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49506, is Tuesday, October 1, at 4:00 pm. Visitation will begin at 3:00 pm.
