Shawn Patrick Saborowski, aged 60, of Big Rapids, formerly of Grand Rapids and Kentwood, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, January 16, 2025.   Shawn was liked by everyone. He had a big heart and was the nicest and most caring guy. When his mother fell, he helped take care of her for several years until her death. He also helped his father every day, attending to his needs.  Shawn was a confirmed lifelong bachelor.  He enjoyed listening to classic rock music, playing video games, and reading; often reading one or two books a day.  One of Shawn's other passions in life was cooking and especially preparing the holiday meals and turning them into a feast for family and friends.  Shawn was a big fan of science fiction and action adventure. He worked at the Gerald R. Ford Airport for many years in security and passenger assistance.  His mother, Sharon Saborowski (Smith); grandparents, Gordon and Laura Smith; aunt, Helen Haight; and uncle, James Smith; preceded him in death.  He will be lovingly remembered and missed every day by his father, Francis (Frank also known as Jay) and his best friend in life his brother, Shane Saborowski; nephew, Charles Halaszi; uncle, Bruce Haight; cousin, Kerri and Todd Dembowske; and his cats, Tom, Jerry, and Skadie. The family welcomes visitors on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 1 to 2 pm at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th Street, SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49508; where his funeral will follow and begin at 2 pm.  Interment will be in Salem Township Cemetery.
