Julie Mae (Sterk) Meindertsma, age 57, of Caledonia, MI, went to be with her Lord and Savior, surrounded by her family and friends, on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. Julie was a beautiful person, and a wonderful friend. To know her was to love her, and to be loved by her. She loved cooking for family and friends, always making too much. She kept her gardens at the house well-tended and beautiful. She loved camping with her husband and their two Dalmatians and traveling across the county with good friends. She continued to bring horses to the Kent County Youth Fair even after her daughter aged out and cherished her time with her Showcase Rider peeps. Julie graduated from Grand Valley's nursing program and went on to serve as an RN for many years. She was preceded in death by her father, John Sterk; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Audrey Meindertsma. Julie will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of 29 years, Michael; children, Micah Meindertsma, Aubrey and Bobby Carpenter, Gabriel Meindertsma, Samuel Meindertsma; mother, Janice Sterk; brothers, Jon and Brandi Sterk, Joel and Jana Sterk; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Teri and B.J. Holwerda, Daniel and Melissa Meindertsma; many nieces and nephews. The visitation and funeral service will be held at Caledonia Christian Reformed Church, 9957 Cherry Valley Ave. SE, Caledonia, 49316. The family welcomes visitors on Sunday, May 18, from 3 to 6 PM and Monday, May 19, prior to the service from 10 - 10:45 AM. The funeral service will be held at 11 AM with Rev. R. Scott Greenway officiating. Interment will be held in Holy Corners Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Julie may be made to the Kent County Youth Fair Horse Program. |
